This immersive installation symbolizes transformation and renewal through both form and materiality. Inspired by the cocoon as a metaphor for growth and change, the structure gradually shifts in shape from one side to the other, representing a journey from confinement to openness. The layered construction allows light to filter through cracks and openings, casting a soft, colorful glow that invites viewers into a meditative and reflective experience. By evoking the transition from darkness to light, the installation captures the beauty of personal and collective renewal, encouraging visitors to engage with the space on both an emotional and sensory level.
The structure is designed for straightforward assembly using a lightweight yet durable system. Bent EMT conduit forms the framework of each panel, which is then covered in fabric and textured with foam rods to create a dynamic surface. The fabric is stitched to the metal frame, and the panels are joined using metal couplings, ensuring stability while allowing for flexibility in construction. This efficient building method accommodates large tolerances, making the installation easy to assemble, transport, and replicate with the help of untrained labor if needed. Beyond its physical presence, the installation serves as an invitation for introspection and connection, offering a shared space that embodies change, resilience, and renewal.

DESIGN AND PROCESS
The design process began with the conceptualization of a cocoon form, symbolizing transformation and growth. From this initial shape, the structure was panelized, breaking it down into manageable sections. To create a dynamic visual flow, we filleted the edges of the panels and introduced a diagonal pattern, enhancing the sense of movement across the form. Filleting the edges also created openings at the corners, allowing light to filter through, while offering unique viewpoints into the installation. The structure was built using EMT conduit tubes, which were bent into the required shapes to form the framework. To infill the panels, foam rods were used to emulate the diagonal pattern, creating a textured surface that complements the overall design. This combination of structural materials and patterned infill helped bring the vision to life, resulting in a harmonious and visually striking installation.

CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALITY
The assembly of the structure is efficient and straightforward, using EMT conduit bent to shape and fabric cut to size. Foam rods inserted into the fabric create a textured surface, which is then stitched to the metal frame. The panels are joined together using metal couplings, allowing for easy construction and disassembly. This approach ensures that the installation can be replicated with ease and accommodates large tolerances, enabling the use of untrained labor for assembly if necessary
